Lake Powell july, 2011

Lake Powell is one of my top favorite vacation spots. I love going there to relax on the house boat, read a book and go on the ski boat. This year the weather wasnt in the typical 100's, it stayed around the mid 90's which meant it was still hot but you could sit in the sun with out getting wet for longer periods.

Night time in Powell is amazing because there are no lights within miles so you can see thousands and thousands of stars. This trip the moon decided to grace us with its presence and give us the full monty. it was huge!! maybe thats why there were an abnormal amount of spiders this year?

Each trip we always go on a canyon run. This year the water was very high so we got to go deeper in the canyons then ever before. It is amazing how large Lake Powell is and that it was actually man made. There are endless amounts of canyons that you could explore, we always try to find a new one to go through.

Landon also learned how to do the air chair extremely well, he said that it is now his favorite water sport. It is so much fun watching him try to figure out new tricks, I'm excited to watch him get better and better.

and last but most definitely not least, Landon and I must always take at least one picture together on our annual Lake Powell trips. here is this years..

I am so thankful for the fun opportunity to be able to go to Lake Powell every year. We always have such a blast! Thank you, parents!

4th of july, 2011

The 4th of July is and always has been one of my favorite holidays. I love dressing for the occasions, attending the parade and getting together with the whole family. The past 4 or so years we have done the same things for the 4th. In the morning we go to Provo parade, that afternoon we go to my uncles house for a food and swim party then that evening we go to my other uncles house to watch the fireworks that come from the stadium of fire. It is always a fun filled day that I look forward to.

Also, I thought I might document that this was Landon and I's third 4th of July together! that's pretty long, huh? now, lets see how much we have changed within these few years..

happy 4th, 2011!!

jackson hole

back in the middle of june landon and I drove out to a little town named Teton Village in Jackson Hole. Teton Village is about 30 minutes from Jackson and is known for its ski resort, it is so beautiful there! {although the weather never seems to get above the high 70's in the summer which means I could never live there.} My cousins live in a beautiful home right on the mountain with a lot of land so it was a lot of fun to explore.

While we were in Jackson we had to go visit downtown. Down town has a bunch of little shops from diners to art stores and then a whole bunch of 'saloons'. One of my favorite shops is called Vom Fass. Its a shop full of beautifully lined casks that contain vinegars, oils and wines of all sorts. It was one of the funnest shops I had ever been to, I'm thinking we might need one here in Park City!
Vom Fass
In the middle of down town there is a big square grassy field and on each corner there is an arch made out of husks. It totally made it feel like a country town.

Next on our list of things to do was visit old faithful. So me not knowing anything about old faithful, I was thinking it was going to be a huge waterfall coming off of a sweet mountain side or something.. obviously I was totally wrong. After our 4 hour drive through the yellow stone national park we finally got to old faithful and lo and behold, it was a geiser. Dont get me wrong, I wasnt disappointed, It just wasnt what I was expecting. I thought it was pretty neat.

on the drive out of Yellow Stone we had to stop to take picture with the cool waterfalls we saw..

and then once we got back to my cousins house landon and I drove home. It was a nice little getaway, especially because it had been years since I had been to my cousins home. I think we will visit more often, as long as they'll take us :)

in 10, 20, 30 years i hope to open this book of life to the innocent eyes of my children so they can relive what i once lived. and try to be what i once used to be and continue to still become.
